I am fascinated by rooms with high ceilings because they open so much more possibilities for design. Although they might be a horror regarding heating costs especially in climatically demanding regions if you don't install some energy saving system such as a solar system, high ceiling rooms promise a lightness and openess which "normal" rooms cannot supply.
There is a simplicity in this room design that I like very much. Nevertheless - if it were my room - I would add even a bit more drama to the view - a painting about a mysterious underworld landscape which may lead you into some adventurous dreams of treasures to be found beneath the earth...

A Dream View from the Bedroom
Although this room definitely lives from its phantastic view - what could be more beautiful than waking up seeing the ocean from your bed - I thought there is something missing: an additional piece of man-made art, a painting that depicts another wonderful view such as this, an inspiration from the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii.
Rainbow over Wailua is painted on silk. The image shows the view from the Northern side of the Haleakala region where the lava fields were running towards the sea. Details of this paintings you can see under this link.

A very feminine Bedroom with a very precious silk Artquilt
I like this room for its feminine aura. Colours are soft, soothing, calming - exactly right for a lady's bedroom. The grace of this room yet could be enhanced by the "right" artwork - my suggestion would be - if it were my room - a precious art quilt, entirely made of silk and handquilted with silk. The quilt has been handpainted - including the intricate pattern on the godess' sarong. You can see details of this quilt using this link or click on the image of the quilt below.
.
Normally I don't do this and leave it to the viewer whether s/he likes something or not but in this case I find that the interior designer of this room was lacking a good idea for decor as s/he placed those pink bags and feather boa on the wall. It simply looks cheap and it diminishes the lovely aura of this room. But this is only my personal opinion:

If you click on the image below you can read about the creation of this quilt, its inspiration and background. I have mounted it here in a virtual gilded frame because this fits best into above room. There are other possibilities to hang this quilt though depending on the environment...

I have not been lazy...
We are in the second week of the new year already and it is time to pick up writing again. I hope you all had a nice switch from the old year and now are full of energy to realize all your plans you made.
I am not going to list mine now in a long sermon - plans are only plans, goals - whether they can become achievements we will see at the end of this year. But I am working on them and I am optimistic. Every year is a new chance to change something, to reset your values like cleaning up your computer and I find it extremely exciting where the paths are leading to.
While I still have to take care for my 3 sweet pigeons who are still sick it also has become a kind of routine, giving me time to go back to my main profession and obsession - painting. With little relapses from time to time where I have to intensivate care there are little steps of progress though which help me to believe that all 3 of them are recovering one day. They are like a family member to me that is in need of care. This can take a lot of your time, it cuts off part of your freedom but on the other hand you get back much love and joy. Without this I would never have been able to start my new painting series about our pigeons with that intensity and understanding. You obtain a deeper insight into their personalities which would be impossible without living with them so closely.
I very much hope that I can pass this understanding, beauty and magnificence of these birds on to you, the viewer.
And if the paintings can change prejudices, profound aversion and misjudgements of a few people only I have already achieved my goal.
Currently I have finished 3 paintings and am working on number 4. I have placed these paintings into a virtual gallery in order to show them as a unit. Depending on the right frames these paintings will easily fit into many interiors.
Examples will follow....
