Light Blue - the perfect Colour for a Bedroom

Maybe I am slowly boring you with these paintings - I hope that is not the case -  but I want to show you how sweet these could look in rooms with a basic light blue colour hue. Also this bedroom has been designed around the colour light blue which is a calming colour on one hand but also refreshing and clean. It reminds you of the sky, of clear calm water of a lake. It is cool but not cold and is certainly a colour that is very appropriate for a bedroom.

Lightness is also represented through the painting Contemplation on a Feather which I virtually added here above the bed. Btw - the suggestion of a canopy bed through the pelmet above on the wall is really charming and would add a nice frame to any painting you would choose to hang here. I also "mounted" the painting into a dark frame in order to match the colour of the bed.

In the original image there is nothing planned to be hung on the wall and this is a bit sad. A piece of art always adds some personality to a room.

The painting is acrylic on cotton and belongs to my pigeon series. I am also writing a documentary and diary about a feral pigeon family who lives on my balcony since nearly 3 years now. This diary contains many stories and photos about pigeons, who are extremely underestimated and misjudged. These birds are highly intelligent, make very funny companions and are absolutely amiable. If only more people would realize how special these birds are. Maybe you will change your mind too if you start reading my blog Pigeon Tales. Night Blue in the Bedroom is just not enough

Honestly - how would you feel in this bedroom? Admittedly it is a small room and there are not many possibilities to style this space but there is still room for some decoration - isn't it?

What I like here is the colour composition - the night blue of the walls looks very nice with the cream colour of the doors but this is it. What irritates me most are the two openings - one with a door, the other one without, apparently leading into the adjacent dressing room (?) and finally bathroom. Not the perfect solution in my opinion and a waste of space.  The bed seems to have been squashed into this room, hardly leaving any space to move around. Not a very good idea. At least it looks like this in the photo.

Additionally the original wall decoration just looks too bland. I understand that in a small place like this you cannot hang a very large wall piece but there are alternatives to make this place a little bit more interesting I believe.

And in order to mention another little detail - I would never have left plug and switch in that cream colour but rather made them "invisible" in night blue as well or rather transparent.

My suggestion would have been this silk painting Frozen which would have added some excitement to this room as you can see below.

The silk painting belongs to the series of Magic Landscapes. It is gallery wrapped (painted on the sides) on a stretcher frame and ready to be hung even without additional frame.

Guilin - a Landscape for ROOMS, big ROOMS

I have brought this up a couple of times in order to show you the various possibilities to place a painting such as this one and how it could transform a room into a breathtaking place as it is shown in the example below. Sometimes it takes so little for this metamorphosis. The original art on the wall looked very nice but do you think it made you feel excitement?

I have a different idea - a landscape as below would make you gasp. A painting that emanates pure magic because the subject is magical. And this is what art is living from otherwise it is only a piece of decoration. So chose wisely!

In a large hallway such as this you need something that blows you out of your socks. There is so much space that can be used without stuffing it. This is my suggestion:

To see that breathtaking landscape with your own eyes will never let you forget about it. Photos are not sufficient to catch the special light, the atmosphere of this beauty. You can look at some of the photos I have taken here but I wished I could go back with the camera and the easel and do what so many artists have done before me. So many motifs I would like to share...

The painting consists of 5 panels which are painted on silk and even could be continued into a 360° view. Imagine a room with an endless landscape! It takes you into a 3d-view when you are in front of it and opens the space even more into nearly endless distance...

The Elegance of an Entry Hall...

Now look closely at the picture below and see what is wrong?
This is truly a wonderful and very elegant entry hall. I love the colour scheme here, the light and airiness of this entrance, the filigree door, everything composed with great care besides the mirror above the table. How could this have been overlooked that a mirror was placed into the alcove that does not fit at all? In my opinion this does not look good. No doubt that mirror is beautiful and would have looked wonderful on the side table but not in the alcove.

I had a different idea for decoration: a delicate and realistic painting in a nicely carved frame, matching colour and style of the side table: Contemplation on a Predator from the Pigeon series.

To make this part of the wall even more interesting and in order to give it a bit of a mysterious (you know I like mystery) touch I would even place a beautiful skull on the table, something similar to the painted one. "Ebony and ivory" would make a perfect match. I am sure any guest would be intrigued...

A Bedroom for the Romantic Soul

This is truly a bedroom for the romantic soul par excellence and I need to show this to you. It speaks of emotions, of nights spent with reading an old fashioned romance novel while listening to soft music while you can hear the ocean waves washing the sand....
This room seems to be taken out of a film, playing in good Ole England and any minute you expect the pretty young girl opening the door and bringing a basket with delicious fruit and a candle for the night... Geez - enough sugar?

Yes I know it may be redundant to place another painting on these walls but in order to increase the contemplative moments I have the following suggestion - you have to look closely though and the major part of it is left to your imagination...

The painting I am talking about is Contemplation on a Feather from the Pigeons series and is shown below in a virtual gilded frame as I could imagine it in this room.

A spacious Livingroom with a spacious Landscape

This is a wonderfully spacious livingroom, unspoiled and uncluttered. I love it how the interior designer left room to play with. I played a little bit with this arena and virtually placed a different painting on the wall because it seems as if this painting has been made for this wall.

The painting itself consists of 5 panels - painted on silk.The speciality of this painting is that you could hang each panel for itself because each is a landscape for itself. A fresh Breeze from the Sea...

Normally I am not a fan of baby blue i.e. light blue especially not when - thank heaven - only middle aged underwear turned baby blue in the laundry because I forgot to take out a t-shirt that I had coloured myself in dark blue. Hmmm - the result was - disgusting. But this happens.
This sweet little bedroom made me somehow melt away and reminded me of clear summer days, with a fresh breeze from the sea. I just loved it. But of course I could not leave it as it was - I would add one of my paintings of course and thought of this one Contemplation on a Feather from the pigeon series. I just couldn't help about it...
