An Asian Style Paravent with opulent Carvings

This Asian style paravent belongs to a couple of wood carvings which are opulent and a sensuous feast of forms and ornaments, something that the viewer is supposed to discover by looking at its details and touching it... (Read more about it here)

This paravent could be an excellent room devider and has therefore more to offer than just being an eyecatcher for any interior design.

If you would like to see how this work could be integrated please check  interior1 and  interior2 - both showing a completely modern interior.
The following photos are detail shots of this paravent, which has been carved from solid pine and not from illegally cut tropical woods.

The following two photos show how the paravent looks like when it is half folded and completely folded from the back.

The screen is exquisite! I love things made by hand. It must have taken hundreds of hours to make that. It is amazing. Any room would be more beautiful with that screen in it.

Gina, thank you so much for your lovely compliment! It took about 700 hrs to carve. I know this because I kept track of my work each day. On top of that comes the hours for drawing and preparing.

Wow, that is such an intriguing piece of artwork!! I can imagine the amount of time and patience it took to do all that carving.... hours and hours and hours!!!

I love the colourful dining room you chose as defining your style :-) You're right, it would definitely fulfill every wish to live in a fairy tale :-)

Kelly, thank you for your dear compliment. Yes - it took a lot of patience but the best with this work is that you can see easily what you have done - which is not applicable with an office job most of the time.

That dining room was just a hoot! I also love opulent Morrocan interior - somehow these things let my inspirational juices flow. I find that our world in the city is grey enough!!!
