What Walls are meant for...

A lovely room, extremely spacious, with a gorgeous terrace, a great city view and a large wall. A large wall? Why on earth would one choose two tiny pictures which are even partially hidden or overpowered by lamps?
There is so much art out there that positively cries for a place like this one. I would have had a nice option...

What strikes me most in this room are the warm colours which turn the space into a cozy place. Without being too reminiscent of an old farmhouse the wooden beams add only some accents to a modern environment. And then I would have chosen this artwork for the wall above the bed:

Originally this is a silk scroll, painted and hand beaded with hundreds of small glass beads which sparkle in artificial light. But you could also remove the upper and lower part of this scroll and mounted horizontally in a sophisticated frame as shown in the photo below.

Instead of the original silk scroll I can make this scroll available as a fine art print on heavy cotton canvas in my Etsy Shop in nearly any size.

The image part of the silk scroll contains hundreds of tiny glass beads which were hand sewn and which imitate the tiny crystals within an agate geode.
The image has been inspired by real agates and is therefore a kind of blown-up imitation. The clear glass beads will reflect the light the same way as the tiny quartz crystals. The mother-of-pearl pigments in the silk paint heighten the gloss of various light parts in order to imitate the creamy white calcite parts you would find in nearly any agate.

Here are some details of the original silk scroll:

The Beauty of Glass and Crystal

Did I tell you that I love anything which is clear, transparent and especially in aqua colours?
I am collecting glass as well as crystals and dream of having a place one day where I could use my treasures for decoration. At the moment they all live a sad life, cramped together on a shelf in my bedroom waiting for the moment to be released...

That's one of the reasons why I loved this delicate and simple dining room - the decoration is beautifully natural and fragile - nothing that disturbs the impression of living with much light. The only thing I would change here - if it were my dining room - I would add some more art to the facing wall - it looks a bit too bare to my eyes.

I have the perfect painting for this place - don't you think? It is from the Minerals series, painted in acrylic on cotton and depicts the image of a huge Aquamarine - this is also the title of this painting. It repeats exactly the colour of the wonderful glass decoration.

The painting tries to depict the wonderful colours and transparency of aquamarines which could not be better representatives for clear water - the most precious treasure we have on this planet...

Night Blue continued - another Alternative

As an addition to my previous post about an unspectacular bedroom and its possiblities I forgot to show you another alternative with a different painting. And this is my suggestion:

And this is what this painting is about:

Did you know that ferns belong to the oldest plants on this planet and that they once became real trees and finally ended up in petrified trees? A fascinating theme and I am totally enthralled by fossils. It is somehow extremely exciting when you split a piece of rock into two pieces and then find an amazing piece of petrified animal such as an ammonite or a plant. But I am digressing...

This painting is more than just an hommage to the wonderful ferns that once lived on this planet it is also meant to symbolize the primordial soup of this universe. The background shows a kind of marbling effect that is not only represented by stones but if you look at pictures from the Hubble telescope you will see similar patterns in the star clouds of foreign galaxies. This painting is also a view into earth's history.

A Firework of Colours - in a Crystal

Remember the other painting about tourmalines? It is here. This is another one with completely different colours and different shapes. Tourmalines belong to the most variegated minerals. Take the complete colour wheel and you will have all potential hues and shades of the crystal. That's so fascinating with tourmalines.

This one has been painted in acrylic on cotton. You can hang it with or without an additional frame. Illuminated with the right light the colours of this painting start to glow...

I have added some photos of this fascinating mineral:

And here is another, very unusual tourmaline crystal in order to show you how variegated this mineral is:

Cool it down with a Painting

This acrylic painting Aquamarine is certainly not meant for collectors of crystals and minerals only but for anyone who feels seduced by the translucency of these natural beauties.

"Aquamarine derives it name from the Latin term for seawater - and one look at this elegant gem's blue hues easily explains why.
According to legend, aquamarine was the treasure of mermaids and had the power to keep sailors safe at sea. It was also thought to possess a number of other mystical properties, including the ability to help couples smooth out their differences; protect against the wiles of the devil; cure headaches, insomnia and other ailments; quicken the intellect; and attract new friends. It is the symbol for youth, hope, health and fidelity.
It is also the birthstone for March and the recommended gem for couples celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary." (from Gallery Mona Lisa)

The painting tries to reflect the translucency of this marvellous crystal and also the various hues an aquamarine can show due to light and various reflections.

Sitting in the Loggia in perfect Harmony...

Sounds like the beginning of a song - doesn't it? Tagträumer
But seriously - I am totally in love with this designer sofa because it somehow has panache. Imagine some nice music playing in the background, reading a magazine while waiting for someone... The adjacent room is the conservatory with lots of orchids and nice green plants - so you are just having a little break until you continue your tasks....
And btw - the painting on the wall is Tourmaline II, an acrylic painting and you can see the details here

Potentials of a Lounge - dipped in warm Colours

This acrylic painting Tourmaline II from the Minerals series is a little jewel because its colours start to glow with the right light. Placed on a wall like this one is just the perfect complement. And a modern designer chair like the one below is a great place to wait for someone...

Elegance in a small Conference Room

A small conference room could look like this - couldn't it? The image on the wall of this elegant interior is Tourmaline I. The painting repeats the modern window blinds with their vertical pattern and is therefore the perfect completion for this room.
