Dark blue Walls and Roses in the Bedroom

I absolutely love this colour concept: dark blue walls, white furniture and a white floor or carpets. A classical composition that makes a room light and floating. Of course I also love the chair that is shown here with its delicate but simple stripe pattern. I even love the pillow with the embroidered flower design, the small side table etc. Everything very harmoniously decorated. Only the art on the wall is an issue I would personally change. The reason - there is just too much sweetness in this room.

Why would it be better to find an alternative for the wall? Because in my opinion too much repetition leads to boredom and disinterest. The images on the wall too show flower motives. Now look at this image and you will find lots of flower motives in the same style. To try something different would be nice - wouldn't it?

Admittedly the alternative painting shows some flower-like motif too but it is modern style and adds more interest to this room.

The painting belongs to the Reminiscenses series, a painting series that was created from my photo documentary about the Olympic Student Village in Munich, torn down a few years ago in order to be re-constructed.

In order to create a kind of memorial for the beautiful and often funnily painted walls which are now all lost I took hundreds of photos from the village. But this was not enough for me - I also decided to create a painting series from the most impressive and beautiful parts i.e. walls, doors and windows. The peeling paints and especially the marks all the vines left on the plaster created wonderful patterns and structures. There is an extra photo series only about these wall motifs which you will find here.

A lovely Room with an additional Touch

There is nothing to complain about this room. I simply love it. I love the window and how it has been adjusted to the door so that you have different shapes. I love the colours which are serene and very soothing but not dull. A very relaxing room but for all that the stencil on the wall looks to me a bit lonely...

A Plate in the Bedroom?

A white bedroom such as this one really belongs to a beach house or cottage near the sea.It looks charming. The only critic I have here is the plate on the wall. Matching colours is wonderful and matching materials too and I think that the plate was meant to complement the lamp foot and vessel. But a plate as decoration is great for a kitchen or dining room but for a bedroom?

To be honest I were afraid of this thing falling into my face while I am taking a nap...

I'd prefer something lighter and still complementing the colours in this room above my bed - a painting such as this one: White Wall from the Reminiscences series, virtually framed into a wooden frame matching the rollo in the window.

Romance pure and a chinoiserie Wallpaper

Did I tell you that I love romantic bedrooms? Probably. But bedrooms are the only rooms in a house where you can live out these kinds of feelings and not be embarrassed if you do so because hardly anyone else (at least not a stranger) will know. This is an argument - isn't it? Your bedroom is all yours and you can do what you want.
Btw - I adore the richly carved bed in this photo - it is heavenly - I wished it were mine...

So I virtually threw out the mirror on the wall - there is still the small one - and replaced it by a painting. I love doing this kind of things to see how it could feel... What do you think? I also removed the lamp which I found to be a bit out of place - colourwise.

What a romantic little Bedroom in white!

You might already have noticed that I am a fan of bedrooms. Bedrooms are in my opinion those rooms where we might not spend most of our time but where we need the feeling of peace and comfort most in order to have a wonderful relaxing sleep. And who could deny that this gorgeous sweet little bedroom is perfect for romance and love.

The acrylic painting that I added to the wall - just to have a little art piece in this room - is called White Wall - isn't it a nice coincidence - and part of the Reminiscences series. And reminiscences one might have in this room, reminiscences of wonderful moments, a lost love, a magnificent holiday or of a dream.

Crocheted Lace on Floor, Lamp and Wall...

This is such a cute little bedroom - maybe for guests or rather for yourself? I absolutely love this composition of the carpet with the crocheted border and the lamp that repeats the pattern and the colour hues. Both elements deliver lovely counterparts for the straight bed without gadgets.

I have added virtually a painting in an ornamented frame that repeats a lacy pattern as well, that could be another addition to this ensemble. The acrylic painting is White Wall from the Reminiscences series. Please check this link for details.

A Stairway all in white...

For small houses the colour white is mandatory in most cases as it opens rooms. Dark colours would be too narrowing.

An additional hint of colour could be added with this acrylic painting which is called Whitewall (who could have guessed - LOL), a painting from the Reminiscenses series.

White Wall on the red Wall of a Living Room....

This is a simple setting with one of my acrylic paintings from the Reminiscenses series. I like the colours of this room and there is no need to place something very exciting here. It's a corner of contemplation, to have a quiet moment where you take a book and relax for an hour or so and listen to some music...

A very modern Composition

Themes are completely fitting here: there is that charm coming from the wall with the seemingly peeling paint (I am actually not sure whether this serves only as an promotional background or wether it is a "real room" with much energy given to make the wall actually look ragged).

The Colour White is the Colour of Purity...

I am not a friend of pure whites simply because I am a colour person (please see my other blog Blooms and Blossoms - that's all about colour!)
But there are people who love these pure whites and of course I can only attempt to stay within the rules with this painting on the wall which is called - no joke - White Wall and belongs to the series Reminiscences, which is about the painted walls of the old Olmypic Student Village in Munich which has been torn down last year for re-construction (please see photo series if you like).
